Scary stories about Chernobyl from real life. Scary stories and mystical stories

The seventh, eighth are in touch, I see a woman with a child, running away from someone.
- Eighth, I understand you, how old does the child look?
- About three years, no more, yes, the poor fellows got caught, the seventh, maybe it’s worth intervening?
-Are you crazy, or what? Do you want to go to court?
- But...
- Leave it aside, it’s better to report the situation.
- Holy shit, some creatures are running after them, they look like zombies, but they move too fast!
- Bloodsuckers, probably.
- Maybe so... (Long pause) Sir, they drove them into a corner... They tore it apart, tore it apart, oh, damn... - The sounds of vomiting were heard on the other line.
- Eighth, are you okay there?
- Not really, they tore the mother apart, and then... (short pause) the child.
- Okay, number eight, go back to base...

I was awakened by Sergei’s voice, telling me that it was time to get up.
Pulling myself up, I, muttering something, looked out the window of our UAZ.
From the checkpoint that stood ahead, I realized that we were approaching the entrance to Chernobyl.
We were traveling on a special mission, namely: we needed to find the “Brave Link” team, so they let us through without any problems, later we passed by some kind of kindergarten, abandoned old houses appeared ahead, overgrown with moss and the like. Then we drove past the very center of Chernobyl, I saw a picture of the morning Pripyat: Houses that were ready to collapse at any moment, the old Energetik building and many others.
But now we were already approaching the second temporary post, where a detachment was supposed to be waiting for us, which was supposed to follow us to the Chernobyl nuclear power plant.
But when we arrived, my entire squad and I noticed that there was no sentry ahead and no one at all.
“It’s strange...” I said quietly.
Having stopped, Andrei, our guide, came out first, then the rest (including me).
Going inside, where the detachment itself was waiting for us, we saw a terrible picture: There were traces of blood on the walls, body parts were scattered throughout the room, the head of one of the soldiers was hung on some kind of hook.
Because of this whole picture, my partner Sergei immediately vomited, and I could barely restrain myself from throwing out yesterday’s leftover food.

All this made us run out into the street in panic and fear.
But as soon as I ran out into the street (I was the last one to run out) something fell on me, it made me pass out for a while, the last thing I saw was how my friend and partner was lifted up by some creature, and the other cut off one of his limbs with one swipe of his paw. After that I lost consciousness.

Soldiers, it's time to move out! - shouted the commander of the "Brave Link" detachment.
The entire detachment slowly got up and they all moved towards the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, because there was very little left to it...
- Stop. - The commander said quietly.
The detachment stopped, and some kind of flashing appeared ahead on the approach to the Chernobyl nuclear power plant.
It turned out to be a blue ball. He was quickly approaching the squad.
Before the commander had time to give the command to run, he instantly increased in size and “ate” the entire squad.

Sir, this is AN-15, the Bravoe Zveno detachment never reached the indicated point.
- This is an infection, no matter what squad we send, they all disappear, not even a trace remains!
- Sir, wait, the radar noticed that they are at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, only underground!
- What?! Are you joking?
- No way sir!
- Here... Okay, if the radar sees them, it means that they can still be returned. Send a detachment and let them follow the route.

Pavlov, there’s a wounded man here, a doctor urgently!

I woke up in some ward, lying on a hospital bed.
Lying nearby on the next bed was a man, about thirty-five years old.
Suddenly a girl, about twenty-three years old, pretty with black hair and a snow-white smile, looked into the room.
- I woke up! - The girl shouted.
Afterwards, a man in a white coat entered the room (as I already understood, I was in the hospital).
- Well, finally, and we thought he was dead. - The doctor smiled.
- Where I am? - I asked in a hoarse voice.
- And you, if you can call it that, are at my base.
I looked at the doctor in bewilderment.
- Why are you looking like that? My guys found you near the checkpoint and took you away... But you were lucky, your other friends were torn to pieces. - Mikhail, as it was written on his decrepit sign near his chest, patted me on the shoulder and gave me brand new military clothes and told me to get dressed.
After getting dressed, I went out into the corridor, following Mikhail, we headed to his “office”.
There he gave me some fresh stew, and after giving me some vodka he said:
- The base is mine, it’s been standing here since the year two thousand, and during these twelve years there have been so many raids on it that the world has never seen it. Mutants, military men, looters, bandits, many others. - Mikhail, lighting a cigarette, continued:
- But for now we’ll hold on, I’ve dreamed of visiting here since childhood, so I grew up, collected a lot of money and went here. Hired fighters, nurses, etc. Then he began to help people like you, this zone is full of secrets... - He was interrupted by a guy who burst in with the words:
- Mikhail, there they are, mutants!
Mikhail's face showed concern, but it was calmer.
- Yours to the left! Not a day without rest! - After these words, Mikhail took the machine gun and went somewhere with the guy, I followed them.
We were approaching a door, near it stood a man with a machine gun and several more with machine guns like Mikhail.
- Well, as always, Mikhail!
- And don’t tell me, the pigs sensed the smell of flesh and came running!
And at this time various sounds were heard outside the door: stamping hooves, roaring, grunting.
- Take positions, now they will trample! - The one with whom Mikhail was communicating gave the command.
Everyone who was present took up positions, Mikhail gave me an AK-47 and I, hiding together with one of the soldiers behind a barricade of bags, began to wait, deathly silence hung over.

The silence was interrupted by blows from either hooves or massive paws. A look of excitement appeared on Mikhail’s face: indicating that such raids had already become a habit for him.
Further, the knocking became muffled, but not for long. After a moment of silence, the door was knocked down with one blow.
A huge massive body appeared in the opening, bending down to get inside, it stood up to its full height, a terrible creature looked at us with its empty eyes. I froze in horror.
- Bloodsuckers? - Someone asked quietly.
The answer to his question was:
- No, it's something else.
Afterwards, the creature rushed at one of ours, fortunately we managed to shoot it with one hit to the head.
But the horror did not end, after her several more monsters ran in, three tore two soldiers to pieces, and the rest, gutting their intestines and tearing their limbs, tore another one to pieces.
Mikhail gave the command to retreat. I ran after him, there he led me through the emergency exit and out into the street, ordered me to get into the car and leave, and he ran back with the words:
- Leave here as quickly as possible, I have to stay here.
Afterwards, I got into the car and gave the gas, rushing away, behind me I heard heartbreaking screams...

Women and children were the first to be evacuated. There was a shortage of buses in this corner of the former Soviet Union. To take 50 thousand people out of the city, buses from other regions of the country came here. The length of the bus column was 20 kilometers, which meant that when the first bus left Pripyat, the last one could no longer see the pipes of the power plant. In less than three hours, the city was completely empty. He will remain this way forever. At the beginning of May, the evacuation of people living in the 30-kilometer Exclusion Zone around Chernobyl was organized. Disinfection work was carried out in 1,840 settlements. However, the Chernobyl exclusion zone was not developed until 1994, when the last residents of the villages in its western part were moved to new apartments in the Kyiv and Zhytomyr regions.

Today Pripyat is a city of ghosts. Despite the fact that no one lives there, the city has its own grace and atmosphere. It did not cease to exist, unlike neighboring villages, which were buried in the ground by excavators. They are only indicated on road signs and village maps. Pripyat, as well as the entire 30-kilometer Exclusion Zone, is guarded by police and patrol services. Despite their constant vigil, the city was repeatedly subjected to robbery and looting. The entire city was plundered. There is not a single apartment left where the thieves have not visited and taken all the jewelry. In 1987, residents had the opportunity to return to collect a small portion of their belongings. The Jupiter military plant operated until 1997; The famous Lazurny swimming pool operated until 1998. At the moment, they have been looted and destroyed even more than apartments and schools in the city combined. There are three other parts of the city that are still in use: a laundry (for the Chernobyl nuclear power plant), garages for trucks, and a deep well with a pumping station that supplies water to the power plant.

The city is full of 1980s graffiti, signs, books and images, mostly related to Lenin. His slogans and portraits are everywhere - in the palace of culture, hotel, hospital, police station, as well as in schools and kindergartens. Walking around the city is like going back in time, the only difference is that there is no one here, not even birds in the sky. You can only imagine the picture of the era when the city flourished; during the tour we will show you historical photos. To give you a vivid impression of the times of the Soviet Union, we offer a Soviet uniform, retro walk in our RETRO TOUR. Everything was built from concrete. All buildings are of the same type, as in other cities built under the Soviet Union. Some houses were overgrown with trees, so that they were barely visible from the road, and some buildings were so worn out that they collapsed from the large amount of snow that had fallen. Chernobyl is a living example of how Mother Nature takes its toll on the efforts of many people. In a few decades, only ruins will remain of the city. There is no corner like this in the world.

On April 26, 1986, the Chernobyl disaster occurred. The consequences of this tragedy are still felt throughout the world. It gave rise to many amazing stories. Below are ten stories that you probably didn’t know about the consequences of the Chernobyl disaster.

Buried village of Kopachi

After the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant (NPP) and the evacuation of residents of the surrounding area, the authorities decided to completely bury the village of Kopachi (Kiev region, Ukraine), which was heavily contaminated with radiation, in order to prevent its further spread.

By order of the government, the entire settlement was demolished, with the exception of two buildings. After that, all the debris was buried deep in the ground. However, this move only made matters worse as radioactive chemicals leaked into local groundwater.

Currently, the territory of the former village of Kopachi is overgrown with grass. The only thing left of it is radiation warning signs that stand near every place where a building was buried.

The cause of the Chernobyl accident was a successful experiment

The experiment using the reactor of the 4th power unit, which directly led to the disaster, was in fact intended to improve the safety of its operation. The Chernobyl nuclear power plant had diesel generators that continued to power the cooling system pumps even when the reactor itself was shut down.

However, there was a one-minute difference between the reactor shutting down and the generators reaching full power - a period that did not sit well with nuclear power plant operators. They modified the turbine so that it would continue to spin after the reactor was shut down. Without approval from higher authorities, the director of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant decided to launch a full-scale test of this safety feature.

However, during the experiment, the reactor power dropped below the expected level. This led to instability of the reactor, which was successfully countered by automated systems.

And although the test was a success, the reactor itself experienced a powerful surge of energy, which literally blew the roof off it. This is how one of the most terrible disasters in human history occurred.

The Chernobyl nuclear power plant continued to operate until 2000

After work to eliminate the consequences of the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant was stopped, the Soviet Union continued to operate the remaining reactors until its collapse and the declaration of independence of Ukraine. In 1991, the Ukrainian authorities announced that in two years they would completely close the Chernobyl nuclear power plant.

However, chronic energy shortages forced the Ukrainian government to delay the closure of the nuclear power plant. However, the country did not have money to pay nuclear power plant workers, so at least 100 safety incidents occurred at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant every year. In 2000, 14 years after the Chernobyl disaster, the President of Ukraine, under strong pressure from leaders of other countries, finally decided to close the nuclear power plant permanently. In exchange, he was promised one billion dollars to build two new nuclear reactors. They allocated money, but no reactors, no money...

In 1991, a second fire occurred at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant.

Given the gross violations of safety regulations, poor maintenance and insufficient professional training of personnel at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, it is not surprising that after the 1986 disaster there was another tragedy at one of the remaining steam generators.

In 1991, a fire broke out at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant after the steam turbines producing electrical energy at the 2nd reactor were switched to scheduled maintenance. It was necessary to shut down the reactor, but instead, automated mechanisms accidentally rebooted it.

A surge of electrical energy caused a fire in the turbine hall. The roof caught fire due to the release of accumulated hydrogen. Part of it collapsed, but the fire was extinguished before it could spread to the reactors.

The consequences of the Chernobyl disaster are costly for national budgets

Since the disaster was radioactive in nature, a huge amount of money was initially spent on protecting the exclusion zone, relocating people, providing medical and social assistance to the victims, and much more.

In 2005, almost twenty years after the disaster, the Ukrainian government continued to spend 5-7 percent of the national budget on Chernobyl-related programs, spending sharply reduced after new President Poroshenko came to power. In neighboring Belarus, authorities spent more than 22 percent of the national budget in the first year after the collapse of the Soviet Union to recover costs related to the consequences of the Chernobyl tragedy. Today this figure has decreased to 5.7 percent, but this is still a lot.

It is clear that government spending in this regard will be unsustainable in the long term.

The myth of brave divers

And although the fire resulting from the first explosion was extinguished quickly enough, molten nuclear fuel continued to remain under the ruins of the reactor, which posed a huge threat. If it reacted with the coolant (water) under the reactor, it could destroy the entire facility.

According to legend, three volunteer divers, in the face of deadly radiation, dived into a pool of water located under the reactor and drained it. They died soon after, but they managed to save the lives of millions of people. The real story is much more mundane.

Three men actually went down under the reactor to drain the pool, but the water level in the basement of the building was only knee-deep. In addition, they knew exactly where the water drain valve was located, so they completed the task without any difficulties. Unfortunately, the fact that they died soon is true.

Swedish radiation detectors

On the day of the Chernobyl disaster, the “Radiation Hazard” alarm went off at the Swedish Forsmark nuclear power plant. Emergency protocols were activated and most workers were evacuated. For almost a day, Swedish authorities tried to establish what was happening at Forsmark, as well as other nuclear facilities in the Scandinavian countries.

By the end of the day, it became clear that the likely source of radiation was located on the territory of the Soviet Union. Only three days later did the USSR authorities inform the world about what happened at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. As a result, the northern countries received a significant part of Chernobyl radiation.

The exclusion zone has turned into a nature reserve

You might think that the exclusion zone (the vast area around the Chernobyl nuclear power plant that is off-limits to the public) is something of a nuclear desert. Actually this is not true. The Chernobyl exclusion zone has actually turned into a wildlife reserve. Since people no longer hunt here, all kinds of animals thrive in the exclusion zone, from wolves to voles and deer.

The Chernobyl disaster had a negative impact on these animals. Under the influence of radiation, many of them underwent genetic mutations. However, three decades have passed since the tragedy, so the level of radiation in the exclusion zone is steadily decreasing.

The Soviet Union tried to use robots during the liquidation of the consequences of the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant

Radiation destroyed the lives of thousands of brave people who took part in eliminating the consequences of the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. The Soviet authorities sent 60 robots to help them, but the high level of radioactivity instantly destroyed them. Also, remotely controlled bulldozers and modified lunar rovers were involved in eliminating the consequences of the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant.

Some robots were resistant to radiation, but the water used to disinfect them rendered them unusable after the first use. However, robots were able to reduce the number of people needed to eliminate the consequences of the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant by 10 percent (the equivalent of five hundred workers).

The United States of America had robots that could cope better than the Soviet ones with the work to eliminate the consequences of the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. But since relations between the USSR and the USA were tense, America did not send its robots to Chernobyl.

Samosely

You will be surprised to learn that people continue to live in the Chernobyl exclusion zone decades after the disaster. The houses of most of them are located ten kilometers from the 4th power unit of the nuclear power plant. However, these people, mostly elderly, are still exposed to high levels of radioactive substances. They refused to be resettled and were left to fend for themselves. At the moment, the state is not providing any assistance to self-settlers. Most of them are engaged in agriculture and hunting.

Many self-settlers are already 70-80 years old. Today there are very few of them left, since old age does not spare anyone. Oddly enough, those who refused to leave the Chernobyl exclusion zone live on average 10-20 years longer than people who moved to other places after the nuclear power plant accident.

The Chernobyl accident is, without exaggeration, the largest such disaster in human history. Almost everyone knows the approximate history of this terrible event:

On the night of April 25-26, 1986, an explosion occurred at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, which was put into operation in 1977, a few kilometers from Pripyat, destroying the reactor of the fourth power unit.

The Chernobyl accident claimed a huge number of lives, and its consequences were terrible not only for Ukraine, but also for almost the entire world. All of you have probably heard about some interesting facts related to this. At a minimum, there are terrible mutants in the exclusion zone, and it’s even worse right next to power unit 4. But most of these stories are nothing more than legends that are written for the sake of clickability of the material.

Very soon there will be an anniversary of the Chernobyl accident. Of course, it would be impossible to call this some kind of holiday or a solemn event. But, despite this, we decided to look into all the interesting facts that we were able to find and write for you the most plausible ones, but this does not make them any less terrible.

Chernobyl disaster: interesting facts

Let's try to understand a little the chronology of all events. At a minimum, we will not start with the consequences of the Chernobyl accident, but will find out interesting facts that were inspired by the disaster itself. And it turns out there are a lot of them.

Firstly: even before the accident, the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, which was being built at an accelerated pace, raised many questions among safety engineers.

And now a little more specifically. The Chernobyl nuclear power plant, like most similar structures during the USSR, was built very quickly and then worked “to wear and tear.” Vladimir Vyatrovich was the director of the archive of the Security Service of Ukraine during the work of the AS. He said that already two years after the launch of one power unit, the KGB began to receive complaints (for a second, this is 7 years before the accident).

“In certain areas of the structure of the second block of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, facts of abandonment of projects and violations of the technology of construction and installation work have been recorded, which can lead to accidents and accidents,” - Vyatrovich quoted a KGB report dated January 17, 1979.

In 2006, data from the archives of the SBU, which during the USSR was inaccessible even to many officials, was declassified. It said that over the last two years of operation of the station, due to poor-quality installation work, non-compliance with safety measures during construction, violations of technological discipline, and radiation safety rules, five accidents and 63 equipment failures occurred at the station. The fact is not interesting, but terrible - the last such message was dated April 25, 1986.

As we see, the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant could not only have been foreseen, but also prevented.

Chernobyl disaster: how it happened

1:23 On April 26, 1986, the first explosion occurred. This happened during an experiment to study the possibility of using the inertia of a turbogenerator rotor to generate any amount of electricity in the event that the reactor suddenly stops in the future.

To conduct this experiment, a power of 700 MW was needed, but before it began, its level dropped to 30 MW. The operator attempted to restore power and began the experiment at 1:23:04 a.m. below the target of 200 MW. A few seconds later, the reactor's power began to increase and at 1:23:40 the operator pressed the emergency protection button.

After this button was pressed, two more explosions occurred, which almost completely destroyed the entire power unit.

It was the operators who were at the control panel at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant at that time who were found guilty of this disaster and were later convicted. Anatoly Dyatlov was one of them. According to him, the engineers followed all the instructions that were specified in the safety rules.

Only 20 years later all the operators were acquitted. The report they made at the time said: that most of the operators’ actions, which the Soviet authorities had previously called violations, were in fact in accordance with the rules adopted at that time.

Chernobyl disaster: amount of radiation

It is safe to say that not everyone knows how terrible the consequences of the Chernobyl accident were. 50 million curies - this is exactly the amount of radiation that then entered the atmosphere. To understand the scale of this, here's a quick comparison:

This sum is equal to the consequences of the explosion of 500 atomic bombs that the Americans dropped on Hiroshima in 1945.

Chernobyl disaster: heroes

Of course, as in any other similar case, this story also has its heroes. These are the firefighters who received the largest dose of radiation. There were more than 100 of them. According to publicly available data, 31 of them died in a very short time.

Firefighters worked until May 9. An interesting fact is that from helicopters they extinguished the flames with sand and clay. And it is likely that this only fueled the radioactive flames.

And the affected area, which formed immediately after the accident, stretched over 50 thousand square kilometers - 12 regions. 150 thousand square kilometers around the station became uninhabitable.

Chernobyl disaster: victims

It is impossible to calculate the exact number of victims from such a disaster. Among the figures that can shed at least a little light on these terrible statistics are the following:

  1. 250 thousand people were evacuated
  2. 134 people who were present in the block at the time of the accident received radiation sickness
  3. 28 of them died within a month
  4. 2 people died directly from the explosion
  5. According to various sources, the number of victims from the Chernobyl accident can reach 100 thousand people.

Is it possible for Chernobyl to happen again?

It is worth noting that there are quite a few nuclear power plants operating on the territory of the former USSR, which are built according to the Chernobyl type. Only in Russia there are more than 10 of them. But after the Chernobyl accident, a number of changes were made to all such stations, which exclude such a development of events.

Chernobyl now: what is happening in the exclusion zone

Over the past few years, Chernobyl has become quite a popular destination for tourists. Look at the ghost town of Pripyat, walk through abandoned houses, admire the incredible nature and the like. Yes, all this is quite possible there now.

But go to the sarcophagus and look at the huge amount of military equipment that remains prohibited there. And not only by law, but also by common sense. After all, the amount of radiation there is still at a level dangerous for humans.
